Firestone Ride-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2013 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Shane: Hey everyone. Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty and I want to walk through how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for the rear axle. Air Helper Springs are going to provide extra support for your rear axle so your axle is not making up for what your suspension can't handle.Nice thing about having these springs is they can be aired up independently. If we have more weight on one side of the vehicle, we can add a little bit more air in that spring to help support that load on that one side. Now, if you're wanting to make it a little bit easier to add and decrease the pressure in your bags, there are compressors available. more

Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs Installation - 2014 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer today. We're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Air Lift LoadLifter, 7,500 air helper springs on our 2014 Ford F250. Now features are one thing, but how the truck is actually going to perform once you have the airbags installed is another. So before I put the airbags on, I put some weight in the truck and drove it around to feel it out. Now that I have the airbags on, I threw the same weight in there and I'm really curious to see how it's going to improve. So why don't we hop in the truck, run through the test scores and see how it does So the first thing that we're going to do is straighten out a little bit here and we're going to go over some bumps to see how our suspension feels.Let me get going here, hit our first couple of bumps and actually right away, I'm pretty impressed believe it or not, these airbags make the suspension feel like it's much more forgiving. more

Air Lift LoadLifter Air Helper Springs Installation - 2013 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Hi there, Ford owners. Today on your 2013 Ford F250, we're going to be installing Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 air helper springs. And this is what our airbags look like when they're installed. It's going to sit between the frame of the vehicle and it's going to rest on top of the jounce bumper plate, located right above our axle. Each airbag has its own independent air line going through it, so they can be aired up independently. This is nice if you need to adjust for any uneven loads that may be placed in the back of your vehicle. Each airbag will operate between 5-100 psi. Five is typically used when the vehicle's unloaded. You don't ever want to run it all the way empty, so five pounds is your minimum. more

Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs Installation - 2012 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the AirLift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Plus Air Springs with Internal Bumpers, part number AL89396.What these are going to do for you, is when you're hauling a fifth wheel, gooseneck, heavy load in the back of the truck, and the back of your vehicle sags; what these are going to do, is these are going to allow you to raise your vehicle back up to factory ride height. It's much safer when you're traveling, or towing something.Another great thing about these, is you can air these up individually. So that if you have a load that is off-centered, or is weighted more on one side, you can air up one bag a little bit more than the other to bring your vehicle back to level. One thing I really like about these air bags, is even though they replace your factory bump-stops, they're going to have internal bumpers. They're going to help provide that adjustable load support of the air springs and give you the reliability of the jounce springs, so they're going to give you the best of both worlds there. And our bags are going to be constructed of a 2-ply fabric reinforced rubber, so they're going to be really durable, and last long time. This is what our fittings look like installed on our bumper. It's completely up to you where you install them. This is where I chose to install them. more

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Installation - 2012 Ford F-250- Video

Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement Installation - 2012 Ford F-250

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 Ford F-250, you're going to be taking a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install, the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, part number TFRTT350F.Before we install our suspension enhancement, what we want to do is we want to take a measurement to find our normal ride height. Now even though we're not going to be able to adjust the suspension enhancement system we're putting in, we do want to find out how much of an advantage it's giving us, or how much it's helping us out when we have weight added on to it. So we're going to take a measurement here in the back, and what we want to do is go from the ground up to the center of the wheel to the bottom edge, and looks like we're about 41 1/2.Now we've added about 1000 pounds of weight to the back of the truck, let's see how much it dropped. We'll take another measurement, again ground center of the wheel, lower edge of the fender here, it looks like we're at about 39 1/2. So we've dropped 2 inches in the back. The extra weight will put unnecessary stress on our factory suspension. It can also cause excessive tire wear, and effect breaking and steering. Now with the new enhancement springs installed, weight put back in the truck, let's go ahead and take another measurement and see how much it's helped us out. more

Firestone Ride-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2014 Ford F-350

Speaker 1: Today on our 2014 Ford F350, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you to install the Firestone Ride-Rite red label extreme duty air helper springs, part number F2703.If you've every towed a heavy load or possibly a fifth camper or anything like that, you've experienced the sag in the back end of your truck. Now we all know that's going to cause a lot of drivability issues because the back end's going to go down, but the front end's going to go up, reducing our steering, braking and just maneuverability and the response that we're going to have. So before we start our installation we're going to take a few measurements. We're going to measure our rear fender height and that's going to be right about 41 inches. Then we'll move up to the front and measure that as well. The front also is going to be right about 41. Now let's go ahead and add a heavy load to the back and see what it does. more

Air Lift LoadLifter Air Helper Springs Installation - 2014 Ford F-350

Speaker 1: Today, in this 2014 Ford F350, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Airlift LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Air Helper Springs with internal jounce bumpers, part number AL88396.Now, you're going to want a set of airbags in your truck like this, is because these are going to maintain your factory ride height, so you don't have to worry about your handling characteristics or your steering or your braking abilities being affected when you're towing that heavy trailer or have a heavy load in the bed of your truck. As we add weight to the back of the truck, the back will go down and the front end will come up. This affects a few things.Number one, it affects our headlight angle. Our headlights are now facing more towards the sky, and they could potentially blind oncoming drivers, and when they're not aimed down properly at the road like they should be. Also, it'll take weight off the front end of the truck, so we have less steering and handling capabilities. It will also cause a little bit more front tire wear, because the front tires now develop positive camber as the weight's taken off them, so it'll cause more wear to the outside edge of your tires. more

Speaker 1: Today on this 2012 Ford F350, we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the Airlift load lifter 7500XL air helper springs, part number AL57596.Now here's what our air bags look like installed. These airbags are great solution for those of you who are towing a heavy trailer such as a gooseneck or a fifth wheel or even a standard trailer with high tongue weight. Or are carrying a large amount of weight in the bed of your truck. This will allow you to maintain your factory ride height and have your braking and steering ability be the same as if you didn't have a heavy load in the bed of your truck. This will allow your front brakes to work better and maintain your steering and handling abilities, that way you don't have to worry about having poor control of your truck because you don't have the proper amount of weight over the front axle. These airbags will help support up to 7,500 pounds of weight. They're not going to increase your gross vehicle weight rating by 7,500 pounds of weight. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2011 Ford F350, we're going to be taking a look and showing you how to install the Firestone Ride-Rite Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper Springs, part number F2703.Give you an idea of what our truck is before we add our bags on or add weight to it, we want to get measurements of the normal ride height. So we're going to go from the ground to the top inside of the fender on the front and the back. About 36 and a half in the front, about 39 in the back. Now with the addition of the weight, we'll take another measurement. Looks like our back is dropped about an inch and a quarter and our front has come up about a half inch. Now what that's going to do, it's going to cause problems with your suspension, your steering and in turn your tires, put unnecessary wear and tear on your tires. It's going to raise your headlights, so they're not shining down at the road. more

They are going to greatly reduce the amount of sagging in our truck when we're carrying a heavy load. They're also going to stop our factory leaf springs from twisting, acting as an anti-sway.Now, our SuperSprings are only going to be activated when our factory springs are under a load. These three holes here are going to give us an adjustment of not only the spring preload, but also the height adjustment. On the lowest setting we're going to have minimal to no height increase, but we're still going to have the support when our spring starts to sag. more

Best 2000 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty Suspension Enhancement Options

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the best suspension enhancements for your 2000 Ford F150, F250 and F350. Here we're going to have a leaf spring style helper spring followed by our airbag helper springs, and then over here we're going to have a jounce style helper spring. This is going to be our lower overload helper spring, and then finally on the end, this is going to be our upper overload helper springs. Now, each one of our types of suspension enhancements are going to do the same thing. When we are carrying a heavy load or hauling a heavy trailer, they're going to prevent the backend of our truck from sagging, causing more strain on our suspension, as well as lifting up the front end, creating less contact for our tires and not a safe driving condition. They're all going to help prevent all those things from happening, so let's take a closer look at some of the benefits from each one. Now, our helper leaf springs here are not only going to give us that load-leveling support, but they're also going to give us a little bit of anti-sway because of the way they're going to mount. Our leaf spring style helper springs are going to mount to our factory leaf springs. more

Firestone Ride-Rite Rear Air Helper Springs Installation - 2012 Ford F-250

Today in our 2012 Ford F-250, we'll be having a look at, and installing, the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs for the rear axle, part number F2597. Now, here's what our air springs look like installed. This will raise our vehicle back up to the factory ride height to allow our vehicle stock suspension in order to do its job properly. Now, even though these support up to 5,000 pounds of weight carrying capacity, they don't increase your vehicle's weight capacity, or gross vehicle weight rating, by 5,000 pounds. You'll still want to follow, and not exceed, the manufacturer's recommendations for the vehicle. Now, our airbags are inflated via standard inflation valve. As you see we only have one, because we use a union 00:00:42 on this truck, so we can air both airbags up just off one fitting. more

Features a manual adjustment valve. And in our application, we have it going to a Y, so we only have one fitting for both airlines. Now, as you can see, we can either let air out, which is going to lower the ride of our vehicle. Or, we can add more air. more

Today in our 2012 Ford F350 Super Duty, we'll be installing the Firestone Ride Right Red Label Extreme Duty Air Helper with springs. Part number F2703. All right, now before we get started with our airbag install here, we want to get a couple measurements of what our truck is at factory ride height with no weight in the bed at all. This'll give us a good ideal comparison of what the airbags are going to do for us once they're installed and we have a large amount of weight in the bed of a truck. Let's go through the center line of the rear wheel here up to the fender well. We're about 44 inches, so we'll keep that in mind for our comparison. We'll do the same on the front. Okay, in the front here we're about 41 inches. more

Today on this 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty we're going to review and install the Air Lift Loadlifter 5000, part number AL88396. A few things to know about our Loadlifter system is that it does have a capacity rated for 5,000 pounds. This does not increase your weight carrying capacity, so double check your suspension rating on your vehicle to make sure you can handle that kind of load. Now on the inside of each spring, has jounce springs built into it. This engages a lower air pressure to better absorb your road shock and minimize bottoming out. Before we get started with our install, we'll go ahead and put some weight in the back of our truck and see how much it sags the truck down. We'll go ahead and take a look at the suspension as it works with the load without the air bags in place. more

Today on our 2013 Ford F250 Super Duty, we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Air Lift Loadlifter 5000 ultimate air helper springs with internal jounce bumpers, part number AL88396. Here's what they look like once they're installed. Some of the reasons you might want these, it's going to help stabilize your load, and if you have an off center load like one side is heavier than the other, you can independently air up each bag and get your vehicle set level. With the internal jounce bumper, it's going to help improve your ride quality. When you do have your vehicle riding level, you're not going to aim your headlights into the eyes of the oncoming traffic. These are going to help level your load up to 5000 pounds. You want to keep in mind, you have to keep at least five pounds of air in the bag at all times, and the maximum is going to be 100 pounds of air pressure when you're hauling a load. With many of our customers have said that these do work well with this wheel hitches, just have to use the original hardware that came with your fifth wheel hitch, the bolt through the center there, to mount your air bags. Our vehicle about any weight in it, at the rear wheel well, the bottom of the rear wheel well, it's going to be about 40 3/4", and on the front, we're going to be right at about 40". more

The upper bracket will consist of the metal bracket, the attachment bolt that will go through the bottom of the bracket to this spacer block, then to the frame at the point of where we just removed the jounce bumper. We'll secure it with a large flat washer and 3/8 lock nut. We also secured the upper bracket using a 3/4 inch, 3 inch bolt flat washer running it from outside of the frame to the inside through the bracket, then adding a large flat washer, split lock washer, and 3/4 inch nut.
